Cut the Cable and cut the cost
Well I might not be ready to totally get rid of the cable but we have the cheapest basic cable available. With the internet out there you don't have to have a million channels. I watch my favorite programs online. If you're a Comcast high speed internet customer you can access premium channels like HBO and Cinemax shows for free on Fancast. If you don't have a Comcast account you can watch loads of programs on Hulu or through the individual network's website, for example, the Lifetime network. You can also watch on your schedule not theirs. The other nice thing about watching online is the commercial interruption is, at most, in 30 second spots instead of 5 minute intervals. Plus you can pause and resume like a video. And as much as we think we can resist all the advertising at least some of it sinks into the brain making you buy things you might not otherwise. There is a reason companies spend so much money advertising. So cut the cable and watch online or as my mother used to say, just go outside and play.
