Tenth Mountain and Alfred Braun Huts are a great deal

Getting away from it all doesn't have to be a hardship or expensive.  One of our favorite getaways is a trip to the back country.  There are big huts that can accommodate a crowd or small intimate huts that are for smaller groups.  At the big huts you buy a bed not necessarily the whole hut. At the smaller huts you have to buy at least half the beds and then you get the whole hut for your group.  Beds run around $30.00 a bed/night.  The huts are equipped with solar lights, beds, pillows, wood stoves, propane cook tops and all the cooking and eating utensils you need.  You bring in your food and drink and a sleeping bag.  You need to contact the Tenth Mountain Huts Organization to book the huts.  Remember you're headed into the wilderness and take appropriate precautions.  We ski with telemark and alpine touring equipment to the huts but you can snowshoe or cross country ski too.
